Position Summary:

The Quality Control team is a highly trained group of designers and technical specialists that plays an essential role in the solar installation process. The Quality Control Technician is the main point of contact for Regional Installation Managers and Installation crews with design related questions, and they will be expected to communicate directly with our field employees, sales reps, customers, and Design team to troubleshoot installation issues in the field and coordinate in-office work to keep the installation on track. Quality Control Technicians are also responsible for triaging all failed final inspections, calling out and scheduling correction work, and verifying completed corrections.

Essential Duties:

  • Make same day and immediate installation changes (layouts, interconnections, etc.)
  • Identify the root cause of common issues in the field and problem solve to prevent reoccurrence
  • Ensure specific field work types are completed correctly (MPUs, Roof Assessments, etc.)
  • Answer phone calls quickly and professionally – with great customer service
  • Make informed decisions to maximize solar potential on residential projects
  • Communicate clearly with coworkers in office and in the field to ensure high quality solar installations
  • Create as-built permit applications for submission in different jurisdictions
  • Correctly diagnose inspection failure causes and identify needed corrections
  • Efficiently coordinate between customers and field resources to schedule correction work
  • Review all correction work to verify completion before requesting a reinspection
  • Effectively use the available software: CRM, Excel, Site Capture, AutoCAD, Aurora

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Has at least a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in any CAD software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Self-motivated
  • Communicate effectively, professionally, and kindly with coworkers and customers alike
  • Multitask, manage time well, be organized, and stay busy with work-related tasks

Key Competencies:

  • At least one year of customer service experience
  • Experience in AutoCAD preferred
  • 2+ years experience in the solar industry or 1+ year experience in PV design preferred
  • 95%+ attendance and schedule adherence, request time off in advance, does not miss excessive work due to sick/personal days

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Regular periods of sitting or standing may be required by this position. In addition, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel should be expected with this role as well.
